There’s really something so personal and intimate about a planner. It’s more than just a place to write appointments or to-do lists — it’s where your goals, responsibilities, and mental load all coexist. And if you’re anything like me, you know when your planner isn’t working. An you feel it in every part of your life. Some ways to know when a change is needed in your system is: you’ve stopped using your planner as frequently or all together, your schedule/goals/to-do lists feel disconnected. For me, it was forgetting when my daughter’s picture day was.

So I wrote down what was working for me last year and ditched my 2026 HORIZONTAL SPIRAL for a new planner that would actually make my life feel more organized, more manageable, and more efficient. Sometimes making time to plan isn’t the problem – sometimes it’s just the system itself.

My new HP Mini planner system contains 3 sections in which I use the ESSENTIAL SIDE TAB DIVIDERS. My first section holds my YEAR OVERVIEW and year at a glance. Next is my schedule section in which I have the WEEKLY SCHEDULE INSERT. This insert was super important to me because it helps provide better visibility to my schedule. Especially because I work overnights and time blocking is necessary for me to balance my days and nights appropriately. And it also allows me to be intentional with task planning. Also in this section I have the MONTH ON 2 PAGE inserts. Because the hp mini size is compact I need to have more monthly planning space and this 2 page layout is perfect. And for my last Notes/Lists section I simply have GRAPH NOTES so I always have a place to jot things down that come to mind. Clearing my mental load is huge for me.

At the end of the day, planning should support your life — not make it feel heavier. I wanted something that would help me become more efficient, more intentional, and more organized in a way that actually felt sustainable.

So if your current system feels off, this might be your sign to make a change. Because sometimes the smallest shifts create the biggest flow.
